Do you ever get the feeling that you are living a movie for everyone else's enjoyment? I do! This week has been no different. If this movie would have a title it would be "If you take a snake to school". Kind of like the books "If you give a mouse a Cookie" or "If you take a mouse to school".

Crazy Ethan and his snake
It all stared when Ethan and his friend Bridger found a snake this week. No big deal really Ethan has caught tons of snakes in his 13 years, so I thought nothing of it really. Until we were getting ready to leave for school and he has in his hands a tupper wear with the snake in it. When I questioned him about it I found out his plans to give it to his Science teacher. Hmmmmm.... I tried to use my motherly skills to get him to just leave it home and consult with his teacher first before bringing it to school. But anyone who has had a 13 year old boy knows that they occasionally think they know best. So off we go to school with the snake and in my heart I hope he learns something from this.
I stayed at home knowing that I would soon receive a phone call from the school fairly quickly. I waited and waited for the phone but nothing. All morning long I waited for the caller ID to say Excelsior Academy. It wasn't until late afternoon in the afternoon that I finally received the phone call. "Mrs. Brown I am not sure if you are aware or not, but Ethan brought a snake to school today." I felt stupid when I said that I was fully aware of this. Then she went on to tell the rest of the story.

Max loves snakes
Apparently Ethans Science teacher was in training and was not at school. What do you do with a snake while your at school? Well apparently you give it away. Ethan had a friend who wanted to take the it home with him. What made Ethan say yes I'm not sure, but it probably had to do with it no longer being his problem. And it wasn't his problem until his friend was sent to the office to contact his mother about the snake. Instead of keeping the snake in his locker this kid decided to take it not only out of his locker, but out of the container as well. He and a group of other kids decided to play with it in the hall.
When Ehan heard that his friend was in the office he told the secretary his part in the whole fiasco. Well to make a long story short the snake was back at home only to be left in Ethans room. Even after I specifically told him to leave it out side. Unfortunately Liddia had a particular interest in the snake and went into Ethans room to "look" and let it go.

Liddia thought the snake was "nice"
Needless to say we searched.... Ethan searched..... and I was left in the house with a snake all day.
When the boys finally got home from school and walked into the front door Ben matter of factly told Ethan the snake was on the stairs and went off to play. Ethan let the snake go and I tried not to pull my hair out. Such is my life with boys.
